    STU to receive facelift -Education Minister

    The Minister of Schooling, Mr Haruna Iddrisu, has pledged to prioritise infra­construction improvement at Sunyani Technical College (STU) as a part of efforts to strengthen technical and vocational schooling within the nation.

    In accordance with him, increasing infrastructure at STU is important to accommodate the rising num­ber of scholars looking for technical and vocational coaching, which he described as important to assembly the calls for of a quickly evolving job market and advancing Ghana’s industrialisation agenda.

    Talking on the inauguration of the Governing Council of Sunyani Technical College in Accra on Thursday, Mr Haruna Iddrisu additionally emphasised the strategic impor­tance of Science, Know-how, Engineering, and Arithmetic (STEM) fields in shaping Ghana’s financial future.

    He added that larger in­vestment in STEM schooling is important to speed up nationwide improvement and improve the worldwide competitiveness of Ghana­ian youth.

    “I’ve no concern of contradic­tion that the way forward for our nation hinges on coaching younger folks extra within the areas of science, expertise, and engineering,” he acknowledged, urging stakeholders to align nationwide schooling insurance policies with rising international developments.

    The Minister highlighted the necessity to increase technical univer­sities equivalent to Sunyani Technical College to satisfy rising de­mand for technical and vocational schooling.

    He pledged to have interaction the Gha­na Tertiary Schooling Fee to assist the college’s expan­sion efforts.

    Addressing the establishment’s infrastructural challenges, the Minister promised authorities assist, notably in assemble­ing extra lecture theatres to enhance studying situations for college kids, particularly these in elec­tronics engineering programmes.

    The Minister additionally introduced plans to combine technical univer­sities into the federal government’s “Large Push Initiative,” a flagship infra­construction funding programme.

    In accordance with Iddrisu, he had formally requested presidential approval to increase the initiative’s scope to incorporate infrastructure de­velopment in technical establishments.

    “The Large Push shouldn’t be narrowly used however can be used to increase infrastructure within the technical universities,” he harassed.

    The decision for enhanced STEM schooling funding comes amid nationwide efforts to modernise Ghana’s schooling­al system and align it with the calls for of a technology-driven international economic system.

    The governing board is chaired by Prof. Samuel Awuah Nyamekye and it contains Ing Prof. Kwodwo Adinkrah-Ap­piah, John Owusu Agyeman, Madam Eunice Obrihe Anner Appiah Larbi, Ing Dr Gilbert Ayini Akolgo, Mrs Rebecca Arthur, Engr Rev. Ebenezer Kofi Gyekye-Obuobi, Mr Samuel Ntim Adu and Mr Gordon Hackman.

    Additionally, Dr Kwadwo Boateng Prempeh, Mr Rockson Addae, Mr Sule Iddrisu, Ms Lawrencia Serwaa Akoto, Mr Abban Kofi Justice, Mr George Evans Awuah, Mr Robert O. Mensah and Rev. Br Patrick Sokuu as members of the board.
