    ‘This is a national tragedy’ – Dr Bawumia mourns 8 helicopter crash victims

    Former Vice President and 2024 presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Celebration (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has prolonged his condolences to the households, associates, and the nation following the tragic lack of eight (8) people in Wednesday’s helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom within the Ashanti Area.

    Talking to the media after laying a wreath in honour of the deceased on Friday, 8 August, Dr Bawumia described the incident as a nationwide loss and known as for unity within the face of tragedy fairly than political division.

    It is a nationwide tragedy. Eight public officers on official obligation misplaced their lives on this tragic accident whereas serving the nation. Ghana is in mourning. This morning, I visited the households of not less than three (3) of the victims, and I’ll proceed tomorrow to finish that train.

    He continued:

    That is private to all Ghanaians. I want to prolong my condolences to the federal government of the day, His Excellency the President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama, and to your complete authorities. I additionally supply my deepest sympathies to the Ghana Armed Forces, who’ve misplaced gallant troopers on this incident, and to the households of all those that died. It’s a very painful loss.

    Dr Bawumia pledged his full involvement in efforts to honour the reminiscence of the victims.

    It’s a very painful loss. Ghana has suffered an incredible blow from this tragedy. That’s the reason I’m right here to put a wreath in remembrance. This isn’t a partisan matter; it’s a nationwide tragedy. We have now an obligation to come back collectively and totally take part in honouring their reminiscence.

    The eight (8) victims included 5 (5) authorities officers and three (3) crew members. The federal government officers have been:

    • Dr Edward Omane Boamah, former Minister for Defence

    • Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, former Setting Minister

    • Alhaji Muniru Mohammed

    • Dr Samuel Sarpong, Appearing Deputy Nationwide Safety Coordinator

    • Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate and Vice Chairman of the Nationwide Democratic Congress (NDC)

    The three (3) crew members who additionally perished have been:

    • Squadron Chief Peter Baafemi Anala

    • Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu

    • Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah
