Two male college students of Nalerigu Senior Excessive College have been shot and killed following a violent assault by unidentified gunmen on the night of Saturday, twenty sixth July.
The victims, recognized solely by their first names, Lukman and Gideon, had been reportedly of their dormitory when the assailants stormed the college premises and opened fireplace, killing them immediately.
The surprising incident has left the college group and residents of the broader North East Area in deep misery.
Sources from the enclave disclosed to Myjoyonline that the incident is linked to the controversial Bawku battle.
Meeting Member for the Denugu Electoral Space, Dasmani Fuseini, and uncle to one of many deceased college students, confirmed the assault.
He disclosed that the our bodies of the victims stay in police custody, with the bereaved households presently within the strategy of retrieving them for burial.
The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into the incident, as calls develop for heightened safety throughout academic establishments in conflict-prone areas.
