    We are ready for Akwatia by-election – EC

    The Electoral Fee (EC) has reaffirmed its readiness to conduct the Akwatia by-election slated for Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

    Japanese Regional Director of the Fee, John Appiah Baffoe, confirmed that every one needed supplies, together with poll papers and verification gadgets, have been obtained and packaged for distribution.

    He famous that 484 educated electoral officers are set to supervise the method throughout 119 polling stations within the constituency.

    Addressing the media on the collation centre on Monday, September 1, Mr Baffoe careworn that the EC has made ample preparations to make sure a clean and credible train.

    The fee is prepared. We’ve gotten all of the supplies that we want for the election. The poll papers we’ve got obtained them; we’ve got packed them. The BVDs, the registers and all different supplies are prepared. So we’re prepared for tomorrow, for distribution for the election to begin at 7am. With regards to our election officers, we’ve got recruited 484 election officers.

    Mr Baffoe additional recommended the extent of safety preparations and urged social gathering supporters from exterior the constituency to stay calm and permit the Fee to conduct a clear course of.

    A complete of 52,328 registered voters within the Akwatia constituency are anticipated to take part in tomorrow’s by-election.

    Background of the By-Election

    The upcoming by-election in Akwatia was necessitated by the loss of life of the sitting Member of Parliament, Ernest Yaw Kumi, of the New Patriotic Celebration (NPP), who handed away on July 7, 2025, after a brief sickness.

    His passing created a constitutional emptiness in Parliament, triggering a by-election below Article 112(5) of the 1992 Structure.
