    President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has criticised the entrenched politicisation of allowances for trainee nurses and lecturers, describing it as a short-sighted coverage that continues to erode the sustainability of Ghana’s healthcare and training techniques.

    Within the wake of the current nationwide strike by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Affiliation (GRNMA), Cudjoe asserted that successive governments have been extra targeted on political point-scoring than on significant structural reforms.

    Talking on Channel One TV on Saturday, June 14, he remarked, “How have we handled nurses even when they’re coaching—we’ve pampered them. Haven’t we?” He pointed to the back-and-forth selections on trainee allowances as emblematic of populist politics.

    “Politically, one celebration says—John Mahama—that he’s not going to pay any nurses’ allowance. The opposition on the time used it towards him. And once they got here, they began paying and rewarding these entities. I’ve by no means understood that sport,” he famous.

    Cudjoe argued that the observe of utilizing coaching allowances as electoral bait has in the end disadvantaged the well being and training sectors of crucial funding in skilled improvement and infrastructure.
