    NCA suspends Wontumi radio, 6 other FM stations for regulatory breaches

    The Nationwide Communications Authority (NCA) has confirmed the suspension of Wontumi FM in Kumasi, Accra and Takoradi, together with six (6) different radio stations throughout the nation, for regulatory breaches.

    An announcement from the Authority dated Tuesday, August 12, famous that the motion follows the expiration of the 30-day grace interval granted by President John Dramani Mahama for defaulting stations to treatment violations of the legal guidelines and rules governing FM radio broadcasting in Ghana.

    In response to the assertion, six (6) stations failed, refused or uncared for to adjust to the regulatory amnesty by taking no motion. Consequently, the operations of the next stations have been suspended:

    • Donplus Multimedia Restricted, 105.9 FM in Ho

    • Desires Ghana Media Restricted, 104.9 FM in New Abirem

    • Jam Multimedia Restricted, 101.3 FM in Kintampo

    • Jewel Group Restricted, 102.7 FM in Duayaw Nkwanta

    • Kpandai Star Group Radio, 107.3 FM in Kpandai

    • Distinctive Gateway Communication Restricted, 105.7 FM in Nkawkaw

    The assertion additional famous that, whereas most of the violating stations took steps to deal with breaches in the course of the amnesty interval, three (3) stations didn’t resolve some violations. These included the unauthorised use of Studio-to-Transmitter Hyperlink (STL) frequencies and unapproved transmitter places.

    Consequently, the next stations have additionally been suspended for working with no Certificates of Compliance, in violation of Regulation 54 of the Digital Communications Rules, 2011, L.I. 1991:

    • Wontumi Multimedia Firm Restricted, 95.9 FM in Accra

    • Wontumi Multimedia Firm Restricted, 101.3 FM in Kumasi

    • Wontumi Multimedia Firm Restricted, 101.3 FM in Takoradi
