    Topic: Issues over the privatisation of energy distribution and lack of Civil Society Illustration

    Pricey Hon. Abu Jinapor,

    We, the undersigned, want to specific our opposition to the proposed privatisation of Ghana’s Energy Distribution sector and the exclusion of civil society from the seven-member Committee overseeing the method.

    The exclusion of civil society organizations, shopper safety teams, and Labour Unions from this Committee raises critical considerations about transparency and accountability. These teams characterize a large cross-section of residents and customers who depend on this service. A call of such magnitude requires broad-based consultations to make sure that nationwide pursuits are prioritised over revenue motives.

    We urge the Ministry of Power to:

    • Halt the privatisation course of till an inclusive and clear nationwide dialogue is held;
    • Embrace civil society representatives on the Committee;
    • Disclose all experiences and agreements associated to the privatisation plan;
    • Discover various fashions that improve effectivity whereas sustaining public management.

    Ghana’s vitality sector is of crucial significance, and it shouldn’t be left in personal palms with out correct public scrutiny.

    We belief the Ministry will rethink its present strategy and guarantee a extra participatory decision-making course of.

    Yours sincerely,
