    Damanag lease extension: We continue to seek ongoing engagement with government – Gold Fields

    Mining agency Gold Fields has acknowledged that it’s going to proceed to interact the federal government on the Damang lease extension.

    This follows the rejection of the extension of the mining lease of the Damang mine within the Western area.

    In an announcement, Gold Fields stated it has engaged extensively with the related authorities since receiving the rejection discover to substantiate that its Lease Extension Utility has fulfilled all of the statutory necessities for such an extension.

    The Authorities has instructed Gold Fields to stop operations and vacate the lease space by the 18th April 2025 on expiry of the lease.

    Gold Fields, due to this fact, stated it’s making ready to securely and responsibly stop operations and make sure the security and safety of its folks and high-risk operations”.

    “The Firm continues to hunt ongoing engagement with the federal government to safe one of the best consequence for all stakeholders”, it identified.

    “These developments at Damang don’t have an effect on operations at Tarkwa, which stay ongoing”, it added.

    It concluded that Gold Fields will replace the market of any materials developments as this matter evolves
